How to Read an Ear Tag Catalogue: Sizes, Parts and Model Codes
Similar-looking ear tags can differ in size and component pairing. Use the dimensions and full model code to compare products, then verify the physical sample before a bulk order.
Read the complete model code
In the supplier catalogue used for these listings, a code such as MK2006+GY1001 identifies a female tag paired with a male component. Quote the complete combination when requesting a sample or price. A matching color does not establish that two components or applicators are compatible.
Compare like-for-like dimensions
The female tag’s height and width are separate from the male button diameter. A 28 mm button is not a 28 mm tag. For the three combinations below, the supplier diagram labels the main tag height and width and the male diameter:
| Supplier combination | Female height × width | Male diameter |
|---|---|---|
| MK2006+GY1001 | 100 × 75 mm | 28 mm |
| MK2005+GY1001 | 78 × 60 mm | 28 mm |
| MF3015+GY1001 | 80 × 58 mm | 28 mm |
These are nominal catalogue dimensions. They do not establish an RFID specification, test result or fit recommendation for an individual animal.
Separate appearance from technical specifications
A tag silhouette or color alone does not identify its material grade, marking method, electronic chip or protocol. For electronic identification, request the model-specific chip and reader information. For visual tags, review the number layout, attachment structure and applicator pairing.
Check the image source
A catalogue image helps identify a product family. An AI illustration can show a concept but should not replace an actual sample photo or dimensional drawing. Ask for front and back views, the attachment details and an approved sample where these affect your order.
Prepare a comparable quotation request
Send the complete model combination, dimensions, animal application, quantity of complete pairs, colors, numbering requirements and delivery country. Include required applicators and packaging so different quotations cover the same scope.
Browse the ear tag range, or send your catalogue reference to info@iminid.com for product and sample coordination.
